Ferran Torres - Player Profile
Ferran Torres, the January signing, who would have thought. The so called marquee signing for Barcelona is sure to get culers excited. The fee is said to be around €55M+€10M in add-ons. Is he worth the price? What will he bring to Barcelona? Here is Ferran Torres’s player profile.
Ferran Torres is a Spanish forward who can play across the frontline, as a false/number nine and a left/right winger. He is an all action forward. His key attributes include dribbling and finishing. He is taking 2.89 shots per 90 and his goals/shot ratio of 0.19 per 90 ranks him in the top 11% of wingers. While being a technically gifted player, he is also a hardworking player off the ball, with his 5.04 successful pressures ranking him in the the top 13% of forwards and his commendable 32.4% pressure success rate ranking him in the top 2% of forwards. He is a decent playmaker as well, but this along with his hold up play, these are aspects of his game which he can certainly improve upon. His output of 20 goals+assists in 44 games for Manchester City may not be as high as one would expect from a €55M player, but over the years he is bound to outgrow the transfer fee. His 12 goals for the Spanish National Team is quite impressive and that’s the Ferran Torres Barcelona have invested him, including his future as well. Especially considering the fee will be spread over the length of the contract, paying the transfer fee won’t be a problem. One of his most important traits has to be his footballing intelligence. He makes smart runs in behind, coordinates well with his teammates and his positioning is always on point. He gets into great positions and creates chances for himself, evidence to it is his 0.16 non-penalty xG/shot per 90, which ranks him in the top 5% of wingers. His versatility would be a great asset for the Barcelona, he can provide width on the right flank, make runs in behind from the number nine position and from the left flank he can cut in on his right foot to play as an inverted winger.
